Tamar Bridge
Visitor Centre
Bridging the gap.
This visitor and learning centre tells the story of two centuries of bridges, the Tamar bridge and Brunel’s Iconic Royal Albert Bridge.
A celebration of engineering.
This project was designed by Smith and Jones Design Consultants based in Bristol.
We were the fit out contractor for the project and worked from the designs produced by Smith and Jones.
A six metre long double sided glass display case was fabricated and then installed in the centre to showcase the history of the bridge, with it also being used by local groups as an education centre, a bespoke unit was manufactured to house chairs and a table all concealed behind a large LED display screen. Several mobile interactive “build a bridge” units, each with a different model to show alternative bridge designs were added ensuring the educational side is kept fun.
Alongside of this we constructed two larger fixed interactive models of the Tamar and the Royal Albert Bridge, an eye-catching replica of one of the bridge anchors was built and stands in the corner, as you move on we created a the fully interactive mini control centre where you use the joystick to pan around the CCTV bridge cameras, showing yet another side of the bridge rarely seen.
